Sue and Henry's Gites
In rural France one of the best bargains in accomodation are the thousands of small houses rented out by their owners.
Called "gites", these are typically older cottages or barns that may or may not have been renovated and are equiped
with few amenities. The best we've ever seen are owned by Sue and Henry Howitt and are located on the edge of the Morvan forest
in Burgundy.
Hotel Renoir
A cheery place we found in Paris just off the Boulevard Montparnasse is the Hotel Renoir. Comfortable rooms in a good
part of Paris, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and you are just around the way from the Montparnasse train station
which has a direct bus to Charles De Gaule Airport. The exterio is unassuming, and you can miss it if you don't know where
to look.
French Word-A-Day
A great site and a must for Francophiles who want to expand their vocabulary.
The book is delightful!
Wilderness Newfoundland Adventures
If you haven't tried sea kayaking before this is the perfect place to learn all about it. The Cook family (to whom we
are now related by marriage I think) runs the best known and most highly regarded sea kayaking operation in Newfoundland.
They're also some damned nice people and their enthusiasm for their tours and their love of Newfoundland is incredibly contagious.
Molly's Pet Care.
When we travel Portia, our semi-Siamese, stays at home and Molly get to make frequent visits.
